LOS ANGELES -- Powerful winds will lash the Southland today, sailors will confront rough seas, and high surf and strong rip currents will create perilous conditions for swimmers and surfers, forecasters said.
The potentially most damaging winds may materialize in the Antelope Valley, where a wind advisory will be in force until 9 this morning, when it will give way to a more serious high wind warning scheduled to remain in effect until 8 tonight.
