Court battle continues over sale of Nelles property in Whittier

OAKLAND - Attorneys for the Whittier Conservancy and Costa Mesa-based developer Friday in Alameda Superior Court argued over whether Judge Frank Roesch should block the sale of the now-closed Fred C. Nelles Youth Correctional Facility.

Roesch has 90 days to make a ruling.

Brookfield Residential's proposal, dubbed the Lincoln Specific Plan, was approved in June by the Whittier City Council and calls for up to 750 homes and apartments, more than 200,000 square feet of commercial space and the preservation of four historic buildings on the 74-acre site.
