An autopsy of El Nino leaves LA hot, dry and looking for signs of new life

I stuck El Niño on the cold, metal table and began the autopsy.

I called the weather doctor, the man with the doctoral degree in oceanography, Bill Patzert of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, up the hill. The man who kept telling us last summer and fall to get ready for the "Godzilla El Niño" type storms coming to California.
