California prison officials have agreed to pay for a transgender inmate's sex-reassignment surgery while another transgender inmate who won a federal court order to receive the surgery funded by the state will be released on parole.
Shiloh Quine, who was formerly known as Rodney James, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reached a settlement Friday of a federal lawsuit Quine filed seeking the surgery.
