Attorneys for Paul Tanaka want the jury in their client's criminal trial to hear from former Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca about the scope of his role in a corruption scheme. They have asked a federal judge to reconsider two decisions that have so far kept Baca out of the trial.
H. Dean Steward and Jerome Haig filed two motions Sunday requesting Judge Percy Anderson give Baca immunity to testify during Tanaka's trial and admit statements into evidence that Baca made to federal investigators about his involvement.
