SANTA CLARITA >> In an effort to reduce the risk of wildfires, the U.S. Forest Service wants to expand fire breaks along ridge tops north of the city in the Sierra Pelona Mountain Range.
Crews would use bulldozers, crushers and even prescribed burns to reduce the chaparral vegetation and other dry brush that could fuel a potential wildfire.
