SAN GABRIEL >> A local doctor, who specializes in treating serious kidney disease, has filed a lawsuit against the city of San Gabriel and four of its council members for disability discrimination.
The suit, filed Wednesday by Dr. Lakhi Sakhrani, alleges "the city deliberately acted to protect the interests of a small group of wealthy, powerful residents to block the creation of the new dialysis treatment center," when it voted against a conditional use permit for a dialysis center, whose patients would be 80 percent, low-income Medi-Cal recipients.
