SOUTH PASADENA >> A suspected thief left behind a bag of stolen mail, fell down a hill and eluded capture Friday.
But South Pasadena police officer Craig Phillips said they're working on identifying the suspect.
The station received a call around 9:30 a.m. of a possible mail thief in the Monterey Hills section of the city, Phillips said.
