Malibu brush fire 35 percent contained, inmate firefighter hit by falling rock

A brushfire that raced up a rugged Malibu ridge early Thursday was 35 percent contained, but a woman inmate firefighter was being treated for major injuries, Los Angeles County firefighters said.

By mid-morning, more than 200 firefighters from Los Angeles and Ventura County had essentially stopped the fire in its tracks at seven acres, said Inspector Randall Wright of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
