SANTA MONICA >> As the clock struck 6:20 a.m. down on Ocean Avenue, the Southern California fog still hung to the finish line of the 2016 Los Angeles Marathon like a bib number to a shirt. The fog shrouded the deserted street like a scene from a Hollywood thriller. One could count the number of people in sight on a single hand and hear the rush of the ocean and occasional crackle of a walkie-talkie with an inaudible instruction.
