Every time you purchase a six-pack of soda, beer or bottled water, you pay a fee to help get the containers recycled. The same is true for larger items, such as tires, laptop computers and TVs.
Now, you can add mattresses to that list.
As of Dec. 30, retailers must charge consumers an $11 recycling fee for each mattress and box spring sold in California.
