MONTEREY PARK >> Police will have extra patrols this week as part of a Traffic Safety Enforcement Operation, officials announced Monday.
Officers will be patrolling areas known to have frequent collisions between pedestrians and vehicles, Monterey Park police officials wrote in a statement.
Drivers and pedestrians who break the law will be cited, with officers focusing on areas with heavy pedestrian traffic, in areas known for speed-related crashes, and on drivers using hand-held cellphones or texting while driving.
