SANTA ANA >> The owner of the Los Angeles Times Wednesday put a loan proposal on the table to help sustain the parent company of the Orange County Register and Riverside Press-Enterprise as it copes with a second round of bankruptcy proceedings.
And at a hearing before a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge, Tribune Publishing attorney Jeremy Rosenthal called for an "open sale process" for the Register, signaling the Chicago-based company's desire to acquire the Times' rival newspaper, the Times reported.
